Moving Domains Soon

I have been ignoring this blog for many reasons but mostly due to work and life. I have now been at DigiMedia for almost 4 months and it has been great. We are currently working on a large project in Ruby on Rails and I’m learning loads in it. I am honestly enjoying developing with Ruby and Rails. I am still doing plenty of freelance web design with both some old clients and new ones. Just finished up 3 client projects this past month and plan to take a little break until some large ones come in early next year. So, between working during the day and freelance in the evenings/weekends, I have very little time. Of course the plus side is that I’m purchasing a new Macbook Pro with this extra freelance money (when the clients actually pay).

Life has been real busy and will only get worse as the holidays get closer. We will be traveling to Kansas for 5 or 6 days next week to spend Thanksgiving with some of Melissa’s family. We haven’t been up there in awhile so figured this was the perfect chance.

As the title suggests, I plan to move this blog to a new domain within the next week or so. Mostly will depend on getting a redesign finished. I will be keeping this domain but it will be a ‘playground’ or portfolio of my work and apps. The new domain will be for blogging, of which I hope to do more of. I am going to try to focus more on development/design related blog posts. I have lots of things coming up so it should be easy. A few of us from DigiMedia have started a North Texas Ruby Users Group and plan to meet the first Thursday of each month with our first meeting next month. I plan to attend more of the Dallas and Oklahoma City Ruby meetings as well. I just figured it was time for a change and a new domain will help (I hope).

Day Before

Tomorrow is the day. Most know that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Turkey, Stuffing, Pumpkin Pie and Football! What could you not like about it? I have made it a tradition that I cook the Turkey however this year I will be cooking everything. Mostly because it will just be me, Melissa and the kids. My Grandma will be making an appearance as well. Normally we have around 14 people over, not this year. The shorten guest list is not keeping me from cooking a huge dinner though. Not as big as it would be with more but more then we will need. In fact, here is my food list;

  • 18lbs Turkey
  • 7lbs Ham (topped with pineapple and cherries)
  • Stuffing
  • Mash Potatoes
  • Brown Gravy
  • Deviled Eggs
  • Corn on the Cob
  • Green Beans
  • Fruit Salad
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Cherry Pie
  • Pecan Pie
  • Fudge
  • Cookies

I will be the sole cook this time so we will see how things go as its a lot to cook and the first time that I’ve had to cook it all. Melissa has to work until 5pm so we won’t be eating until late so I have time to get everything done before she gets home. Overall it should be a great Thanksgiving and I’m looking forward to it. Look for pictures and maybe a video tomorrow as well.
