Meet within your groups and formulate several thesis statements (enough so that each pair within your group will have a unique thesis statement to work with). Remember, thesis statements provide the foundation for your argument and should be complex (3-part) thesis statements. Now, with thesis statement in hand, pair up with someone from your own group. Using your thesis statement, write an argument that FULLY supports the facts and opinion(s) expressed. Important: The actual format of your argument is critical! You must include SPECIFIC FACTS & EXAMPLES BALANCED WITH YOUR CRITICAL COMMENTARY AND ANALYSIS. DO NOT SIMPLY SUMMARIZE FACTS....ANALYZE THEM. Finally, be sure to address the legacy of Columbus. This lies at the heart of the current debate as to whether the ends justify the means. Round 1: I will randomly select one pair to deliver their debate. One from each side until all have gone. Round 2: Rebuttals. A rebuttal must challenge a particular idea, or opinion brought up by an opposing pair. So, as one person is delivering the debate, another person on the opposing side will be taking notes so that he/she will be prepared to rebut. For this debate, you must use three of the following sources* as supporting evidence for your written debate: *All documentation and works cited must be in MLA format.
Thus there is good reason to accept the Biblical record ofthe confusion of tongues at Babel as the true account of the originof the different major language groups of the world. Evolutionistscertainly have no better answer, and the only reason why modernscientists tend to reject it is because it was miraculous. Tosay that it would have been impossible, however, is not only todeny God's omnipotence but also to assert that scientists knowmuch more about the nature of language than they do.
Origin theories of Christopher Columbus - Wikipedia
Christopher Columbus has been commemorated in hundreds or thousands of ways across North America and South America. He has roads named in his honor, buildings, cities, and our nation’s capital. Does he deserve these honors? After all he did find the new world for Europeans. Who would then have any issues with this man’s accomplishments? Many students overlook the fact that there were already people living on this continent. Many were taught in Elementary school all of the good that Columbus brought but overlook the whole truth of this immortalized man. This lesson is intended to open the eyes of middle school students to the multiple perspectives on this man and provide an opportunity for discussion and why perhaps some South American and Central American countries refuse to celebrate Columbus Day.
Nimrod was the first person to become a "mighty"man. Our text calls attention to this by using the adjective "mighty"three times in describing him: "Nimrod ... grew to be a warrior on the earth. He was a hunter beforethe LORD; that is why it is said, 'Like Nimrod, a hunterbefore the LORD'" (vv. 8, 9). The adjective also occurs ina similar way in 1 Chronicles 1:10. Why is this emphasized? Isit good or bad? A little thought will show that it is bad. Theempire of Babylon under Nimrod was an affront both to God andman, an affront to God in that it sought to do without God (Gen.11:1-9) and an affront to man in that it sought to rule over otherpeople tyrannically. Martin Luther was on the right track whenhe suggested that this is the way the word "hunter"should be interpreted. This is not talking about Nimrod's abilityto hunt wild game. He was not a hunter of animals. He was a hunterof men--a warrior. It was through his ability to fight and killand rule ruthlessly that his kingdom of Euphrates valley citystates was consolidated.
