Factors Affecting Rate of Photosynthesis

Factors Affecting Photosynthetic Rate  The rate at which plants can make food (the photosynthetic rate) is dependent on environmental factors.  These include:  the amount of light available.  the level of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ).  the temperature.

What environmental factors that affect photosynthesis

Limiting Factors  Light Intensity, Carbon dioxide concentration, Temperature or chlorophyll concentration (affected by the amount of Nitrogen present) are the main LIMITING FACTORS of photosynthesis.  The above factor that is furthest from it’s optimum level for photosynthesis will control the amount of photosynthesis that takes place.  E.g. if the temperature of the plant is furthest from it’s optimal level then the increasing the amount of carbon dioxide and light will not affect the rate of photosynthesis.

FACTORS AFFECTING THE RATE OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS

To get
more accurate results I will repeat the experiment 3 times if possible

Predictions:

Using my scientific knowledge and the research that I have been doing
I would predict that light intensity will affect the rate of
photosynthesis in this way: The closer the lamp is to the elodea the
stronger the light intensity will be, I know this because we have
being doing tests to measure the light intensity using specialist
equipment.

Farmers can use their knowledge of these limiting factors to increase crop growth in greenhouses. They may use artificial light so that photosynthesis can continue beyond daylight hours, or in a higher-than-normal light intensity. The use of paraffin lamps inside a greenhouse increases the rate of photosynthesis because the burning paraffin produces carbon dioxide, and heat too.

What are three environmental factors that affect photosynthesis

Variables: The variables that might affect the rate of photosynthesis
in this experiment are:

Temperature: When the temperature rises so does the rate of
photosynthesis; this is because as the temperature around the plant
rises the enzymes controlling photosynthesis inside the chloroplasts
heat up and start moving around faster, the fast moving molecules
collide with other fast moving enzymes causing them to react.

External factors that affect the rate of Photosynthesis

Because we need the experiment to be a fair
one and we know from our research that temperature can affect the rate
of photosynthesis we needed to cut down the heat transferring from the
light to our experiment as much as we can.

Experimental Question: What factors affect the rate of photosynthesis

So if there is a big Elodea plant the
speed that photosynthesis happens will increase as there are more
palisade cells that can be photosynthesising

I have decided to explore into how light intensity affects the rate of
photosynthesis in the elodea.

Light is a very important factor in the rate of photosynthesis, in my project I am going to test that plants do need light in order to photosynthesise.

Photosynthesis and Rate  Aims:  Must be able to outline the factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis in plants.  Should be able to explain why these factors affect photosynthetic rate.  Could be able to outline the energy transfers involved in environments.

Carbon dioxide is used to make sugar in the photosynthesis reaction

Thus, although earthworms are unlikely to be seriously affected by DDT, they pose a major hazard to predators because of the residues they can tolerate. Both DDT and DDE are classified as being relatively non-toxic to honey bees, with a topical LD 50 at 27 µg/bee. There are no reports on laboratory studies using DDE or TDE, inspite of the fact that these are major contaminants of soil.
