Anterolisthesis is often caused by bone
While you are acute the best thing to do is to apply the ice for up to 10 minutes at a time to alleviate the pain and to help reduce the inflammation present. I would then highly recommend some chiropractic treatment to restore normal movement to your back and to encourage the inflammation process to fully disperse. Chiropractic is completely safe while you are pregnant and can be used at any stage of your pregnancy. As the pain is referring from the back into the left buttock you will probably need some massage and stretching in conjunction with chiropractic manipulation of your lumbar spine.
The only way to avoid pain from gardening or sitting is to avoid rounding your back and not to stay in one position for too long. Make sure you are constantly moving and changing position so that your body doesn’t have a chance to adapt to the position that you are in. When sitting try to do so with your knees lower than your hips. This forces the pelvis more upright and it will make it a lot easier to avoid rounding the lower back. The best chairs to sit on will have a forward seat tilt. If you lower it all the way forward so that your knees are lower than your hips you will find that you don’t have to use the lumbar support because you are actually sitting upright. Also make a point of getting up at least every hour to get movement into the joints of your spine. The other chairs that are good for the spine are the Swedish fitballs, the kneeling chairs, and the saddle seats. All of these chairs are designed so that your knees are lower than your hips.
Anterolisthesis in the cervical spine--spondylolysis
Although this seems to be a very common suggestion by most of the physicians, taking nutritious food that aids in the repair of the soft tissues of the spine is very helpful. The required nutrients include:
This technique not only stimulates tissue repair but also controls the pain. Through this therapy, the energy components of the cells (ATP) are increased. Since this is like a boost to the spine, cells can perform all tasks including cell repair effectively.

This is at the moment the most commonly proposed aetiological mechanism causing a pars defect. In an in vitro study on 28 human lumbar spines found that the pars interarticularis defect of the lumbar spine was related to hyperextention mechanical fatigue.
Acute traumatic fractures only involving the pars are rare, and certain disease processes which weaken the bone such as Osteopetrosis can cause spondylolysis. The most widely used classification is described by Wiltse, Newman and Macnab. Associated with a congenital abnormality of the upper sacrum or the neural arch of L5. There is usually no defect of the pars. Subtype A :A fatigue fracture of the pars interarticularis. Subtype B :There is elongation of the pars interarticularis without a defect. Subtype C :Rare, due to severe hyperextention leading to acute pars fractures. Also known as degenerative spondylolisthesis with an intact neural arch ie non spondylolytic spondylolisthesis. This is 10 times more common at L4, and no greater than 25% anterior displacement occurs. It is rare under 50 years of age, it is 6 times more common in females over 60 years of age, 3 times more common in blacks as in whites, and is 4 times more likely if associated with a sacralized L5. The mechanisms of displacement are thought to involve arthrosis of the zygapophyseal joint, disc degeneration, and remodeling of the articular process and pars. Can occur as an acute fracture of a portion of the neural arch other than the pars interarticularis ie a hangman’s type fracture of C2.(note this type is different from the pars fracture – Isthmic subtype C) Generalised or systemic disorders may affect the neural arch of the spine and cause spondylolysis and subsequent spondylolisthesis. Some of the more common forms are Paget’s disease, metastastatic disease, and Osteopetrosis. Radiological evaluation is the definitive method of confirming the presence of spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis. A complete plain film series of the lumbar spine and sacrum are recommended, and should include the following views.

Meyerding classification system is used to determine the degree of anterolisthesis of the 5th lumbar vertebra in relation to the sacrum. The sacral base is divided into 4 equal segments, and the alignment of the posterior surface of the 5th lumbar vertebral body is ascertained. In this method spondylolisthesis can be graded 1 – 4, depending on the amount of anterior shift of L5 in relation to the sacrum.
C-spine x-ray interpretation – Don't Forget the Bubbles
The ABC’s of the cervical spine provide a helpful mnemonic to guide the systematic assessment of these x-rays. Remember; you require all three views (lateral, AP and odontoid/open mouth view) for an adequate study.
Definition of Anterolisthesis - MedicineNet
It is fairly easy to identify the site of pain and when you visit the chiropractor, part of the spine will still be stuck in the position that you were in that caused the problem in the first place. To correct this condition you will need a chiropractor to adjust the joints, freeing them up so that they are no longer stuck in an asymmetrical position. The longer you wait before seeing the chiropractor the more the inflammation and swelling will set in and the worse the condition will get.
c The lumbar spine is exposed to ..
In as much as bending forward while gardening will give you back pain so too will sitting for any length of time. The reason for this is that the spine is in a rounded position and it gets stuck there. When a person sits you will generally sink into the sitting position and in so doing you round your lower back into one long ‘C’ shaped curve that extends from your shoulders to your pelvis. This rounded lower back curve is opposite to what it should be and as your body adapts to this position it will get stuck there and you will find it difficult to stand back up again. It is the same feeling you get after a long drive and you get out to stretch your legs. Office workers with desk jobs will suffer more lower back pain than most other people in the population.
