T-Mobile G1
I have been looking at the Android Mobile OS for awhile and been following the T-Mobile G1 as well and was excited by what it offered. On Thursday we drove to Dallas/Fort Worth (as I’m not in a 3G area) to purchase one. The second I touched it I knew it was the phone for me. After having it for 2 days now and playing with it; I am loving it.
The one downside to the iPhone for me was the keyboard. I really wanted a keyboard and not just an on-screen one. For me personally it is a better choice. I also love thinking about what the future holds for the Android Market and the OS itself with future updates in 2009. I only wish Google would be a little more open with its road map.
A key selling point for me was how tied in it is to Google Apps. Google is everything to me. I use Gmail for my personal emails along with Google For Your Domain for several domains. I use Google Calendar, Reader, Contacts, Docs, etc. Since this phone is made to sync perfectly with Google Apps it has been nice. The battery life hasn’t been great on it but it isn’t the worse. Of course I’ve been playing with it non-stop so that plays a lot in the battery right now.
Overall I am really happy with my purchase of the T-Mobile G1 and look forward to using it for awhile. Of course my iPhone friends (of which there are many) won’t let me forget that I didn’t get an iPhone.
Agreee with ya. Had a G1 for two weeks now, and love it…
Few things id like to see improved, but the only deal breaker is the battery life, its terrible!
Ok, its getting used a lot more than your typical phone, but still, 2 full charges a day, thats just awful!
There are things to be improved much like any other phone that is released (including the iPhone) but overall I’m loving it.
I have had to do 2 charges as well. However, I’ve been using it like crazy. I had GPS on for one day and have been back and forth on the phone browsing, the market, etc. We will see how the battery problem turns out.
The G1 looks very cool, but I’m most excited about the Blackberry Storm. If only Verizon would get to Oklahoma City.
Yeah, I’ve been following the Blackberry Storm as well. It does look very slick. I would love to actually get one in my hands.
